Early Birthday Gift

I got one of the greatest birthday gifts earlier today. My wife got me a Gold Subscription to Disney’s D23. Included in this subscription was a D23 fan club card, Twenty Three magazine, 75 years of Disney Animated Features catalog, discounted merchandise, limited edition items, and a certificate welcoming me to the club, signed by Robert Iger and Mickey Mouse.

I am hopeful that I can make the pilgrimage next year to the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. (Fingers crossed)

Thank you to my wonderful wife for such a unique birthday gift, you know me all too well :)

Be My Guest- A Guest Post by Amanda

Disney Vacation Club is known as Disney’s best kept secret. My boyfriend and I recently discovered this secret. We stopped by a DVC station in one of the parks and set up a time to go to a preview. Since we were staying at a deluxe villa resort, we went to the preview at the resort we were staying at since it was convenient. The preview takes about an hour to an hour and a half. You get to see example rooms you can stay at with the DVC. Its simple. You go to a preview, at the preview you get the information on how to become and what it takes, then you decide to sign up or wait for a later date to sign up if you decide to do so and once you are a member, you start planning vacations.

With the DVC, members use points to book vacations. The best part of points is that you can use them anywhere including Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Adventures by Disney, Disney Cruiseline, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Tokyo Disney, Aulani, Disneys Vero Beach and 500 other locations all over the world. Along with the points comes perks and special events like discounts on shopping, dining and entertainment. The membership is good for 50 years. Sound like a good thing? Visit Disney Vacation Club for more information and how to become a member.

Happy 25th Anniversary Disney Store

If you were able to make it to your local Disney Store today, everything in the store is 25% off.  My local mall opened at 10am, due to previously arranged circumstances, I didn’t arrive there until 11:30. I was amazed to find that they still had a pair of the 25th anniversary mickey ears. The process was very simple, when I arrived they gave me a sheet of paper, which I then took to the back to exchange for the ears.

My wife and I did our shopping and as we were checking out, we also received a 25th anniversary button as an added bonus. It was a pretty magical day for the both of us at the Disney Store.

Happy 25th Anniversary Disney Store!!!!

PS….code is HAPPY25, it is also available online for the next couple of hours. :)

Disney’s BoardWalk

;

;

Anytime I go to Disney World, a stop at the BoardWalk is a must. Considered a “village on the water” the BoardWalk is a step back in time to the 20th century, reminding its visitors of places such as Coney Island, New York and Atlantic City, New Jersey.

I can see it now, stepping out of the Boardwalk Inn and looking across Crescent Lake at the Yacht and Beach Clubs. The calmness of the water as the ferryboats come in and out of the dock to take guests to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

I really enjoy just sitting in the big, white rocking chairs looking at the sun glimmering on the water. The sounds of guests shuffling to their next destination. I find myself taking in all of the 90,000 square feet of shops, restaurants, and nightclubs.

For entertainment, the Atlantic Dance Hall offers a nightclub with bands and current DJ’s. If you are up for some live karaoke, head on over to Jellyrolls, where the sound of dueling pianos awaits, along with guest sing-a-alongs.

Remember that you must be 21 or older to be allowed into the Dance Hall or Jellyrolls.

If grabbing a meal is your flavor, there are many spots available with a variety of things to satisfy your palate.

Big River Grill & Brewing Works – restaurant & microbrewery (the only working brewpub at Walt Disney World)

ESPN Club – wall to wall sports with burgers, wings, and sandwiches

Flying Fish Cafe – Fresh Fish/ new American Cuisine

Chefs Menu at Cora Nation Room – Greek Specialties

If you are in the mood for something quick and possibly even sweet, there are places that cater to that as well.

BoardWalk Bakery – assorted cakes, pies, and pastries

Pizza Window – pieces of your favorite pizza pie

Seashore Sweets – salt water taffy and various other tasty treats

If you are like me, there is plenty of shopping that can be done as well. Whatever you are looking for, you can find it in Screen Door General Store, Thimbles & Threads, or Hyland Galleries, just to name a few.

If you are wishing to stay at the Boardwalk, the BoardWalk Inn is the place to stay. Depending on the room, you are also able to see the parts of Illuminations at Epcot (the nighttime fireworks display).

Rooms are priced from $345 to $2235 per night.

Situated closely to Disney Hollywood Studios and Epcot, also just a short drive to Downtown Disney, I highly recommend you check out all that BoardWalk has to offer.

Late Arrivals & The FASTPASS

The next time you enter your favorite park and grab a FASTPASS, make sure that you arrive at the attraction on time.

Disney Parks are testing “X-Pass”, which is the newest offering for attractions. Still in its early stages of operation, “X-Pass” will run in addition to FASTPASS.

“X-Pass” will enable guests to pre-book time slots during which they can ride the popular attractions without having to wait in long lines. Being tested for guests that are staying in the Deluxe resorts. Not sure if this will be a mainstay in all resorts or only for these resorts.

Cast members have been cracking down and turning away guests who get to the attraction late.

FASTPASS stations now offer a warning that informs guests that they must return to the attraction before the end of their window of time.

Speculation is that the FASTPASS crackdown is so that they can integrate the “X-Pass”.

As of now, nothing has been confirmed as far as the “X-Pass” specifics.

Will this deter you from FASTPASSing your favorite attraction?
