We believed in our idea – a family park where parents and children could have fun together.
The year is 1934. Walt Disney Productions files an application for a trademark of “Mickey Mouse” for use in books and newspaper comic strips.
I hope that everyone is as excited as I am about the “New Fantasyland”. Storybook Circus at Magic Kingdom made a soft opening to the public this morning. As with all soft openings, availability or closure could happen at any moment. Official opening date is set for March 31,2012. As the “New Fantasyland” opens, it will include two Dumbo the Flying Elephant spinners, re-themed Barnstormer roller coaster, and a re-designed Fantasyland train station. When I was there in October 2011, this station was closed and was having the finishing touches made to it, but not open.
Word is that the Fantasyland train station may or may not have been closed today, we will see if tomorrow brings even more changes to the area.
It appears that “New Fantasyland” is making great progress. Many new changes are taking place, such as the FastPass stations, signage, queue cameras, and even the pavement, are some areas that may be different.
At one point today, wait times were at 45 minutes for Barnstormer and Dumbo. I can’t wait to visit this area in May. I have been following its progress and I am really excited to see how things have changed in just a few short months.
More to come as “New Fantasyland” continues to take shape.
