If you were at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for Star Wars day, then you may have experienced the Disney rumor mill at warp speed.

Twitter and other various social media sites, were saying that Walt Disney Co. CEO Robert Iger and Star Wars creator George Lucas were hanging out at the Studios. I remember reading at one point, someone who even said that Iger was on Star Tours with some lucky park guests. Not able to confirm whether this was true or false.

The big announcement, which was supposedly going to be kicked off by Iger or possibly even George Lucas, never transpired. However, there was a spectacular fireworks display, that lit up the night sky over Hollywood Studios.

Fantasmic, yay or nay? Well, I would like to lend my insight on the negatives and positives of this nighttime fireworks spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Recently, I saw Fantasmic, for what seemed like the hundredth time. The show is the same every time. Visually, this is my favorite show, with all of the water and fire, as well as a sure fire way to see all of your favorite characters at some point.

Thinking back, over ten years ago, I can remember when it was a free for all as soon as they drop the rope for seating. People would take off running to get prime seating areas within the amphitheater. Disney got wise some time later, by corralling everyone into stages of holding spots, limiting how far you can get into seating areas. This is something that has stuck and is currently still being used.

I like this, due to it giving everyone a fair chance at optimal viewing areas. However, crowd control for Fantasmic still leaves a lot to be desired. You still have to wait in a long line, which sometimes stretches out to the Main Street of Hollywood Studios.

Having two shows is a wonderful idea. I feel like it helps in alleviating crowds. For this reason, I would recommend going to the second showing.

The night that I recently attended, the Cast Members made everyone sit in the center, which left both sides completely empty. My family and I tried to move further to the right, for better seating. We were told that we had to move back to the center. The crazy thing about this, is that the sections were completely empty. They never gave a reason as to why we couldn’t sit there, just that they didn’t want us to. The last I checked, I was in the Happiest Place on Earth, wouldn’t you want to make me happy?

I decided to move all of us back over again. This time, a Cast Member told us in a few minutes we could spread out if we wanted, that the show would not be full. I take issue with this, only because it still doesn’t seem after many years, that they know how to manage crowds. It was very obvious that it would not be a full show.

I am simply here to offer my opinion, which may not be popular, but if you have a show that has ran as long as Fantasmic has, it should go a bit smoother for the guests than it does.

My opinion, if you go to see Fantasmic, try to sit in the third section from the right or left. I have always thought these sections provide the best viewing of the show.

Thoughts? Fantasmic Yay or Nay?

I am back after a Disney vacation and an extra week off from my Disney vacation. I took a lot of notes and have a lot that I will be reviewing from here on out. I wanted to start by giving an honest review of the All Star Sports Resort.

For those of you that have never been to Disney World, the resort areas are broken down into Value, Value Deluxe, Moderate, and Deluxe.

I have always maintained that it really doesn’t matter where you stay on Disney property, because you really just sleep in your room and that is about it. This last visit, really has me rethinking that statement.

As everyone knows, I am a travel agent, so booking the trip to Disney, was something that I was able to do without any issues. We went with my brother & sister-in-law, so we requested rooms next to each other and in the area of the football stadium. For those that are unfamiliar with the theming for All Star Sports, there are areas dedicated to Football, Basketball, Tennis, etc.

My nephews picked football, I was pretty excited that this was the area that they had selected. So we get to the resort after a very early morning of travel. We get to the counter and were assisted by a nice Cast Member by the name of Rick from New York. My brother & sister-in-law had some difficulty with their keys, due to some computer issues that Disney had been working through. Rick made good on the wait time, he gave my nephews each an autograph book & pen.

Next it was my turn, Rick discovered that it was my birthday, he gave me some balloons and a Mickey Mouse car. Let me say, that we had zero issues with our room keys, which I was happy about, but kind of surprised.

Once we got all of our gear together, we had to wait about an hour or so, for our rooms to be ready. Here is where I have a small issue. We didn’t get placed in the football area. No, we got stowed away in a quiet corner of the basketball area. Ordinarily, I would not have been so bothered by this, but it wasn’t as close to the main lobby or pool area. Also, the trip was booked months before we actually took it.

We get to the rooms, and they are like staying at your average hotel. The thing that I really liked, is that they had room service come and replace towels and make the beds almost every day. I can’t remember getting that always before when staying at other value resorts on property. Good Job Disney!

The rooms were clean, but you can tell that they are old and in need of some small refurbishments. Maybe new carpeting, fresh coat of paint, and some current wallpaper.

Again, the thing to keep in mind, is All Star Sports Resort is a value resort, hence, affordable.

Due to its affordability, it is a teenager magnet. If you do not want to be bother with loud, unruly, teenagers, then you may want to look at a Moderate or Deluxe resort.

I hope that my experience helps someone out there in whatever they are looking for when going to Disney. Am I trying to discourage someone from staying at one of the Value Resorts, absolutely not!

As part of the kickoff to Monstrous Summer, Magic Kingdom in Florida, Disneyland park, and Disney California Adventure will be open from 6am, May 24th to 6am, May 25th.

In Florida, your masters of ceremony will be Mike and Sully from the upcoming feature Monsters University. They will be appearing in the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade as honorary grand marshals. They will also be making appearances in Tomorrowland through the day.

The Magic Kingdom will also have entertainment throughout the day and nights, there will be your favorite characters in their pajamas.

This is not the first time that the Magic Kingdom opened for a 24 hours straight. They did this as part of the leap year celebration called “One More Disney Day” last year.

After meeting with a few friends, we sat here for about another hour. I have been seeing a lot of different menu items. I have decided to try yet another menu item.
