Today I had the pleasure of visiting my local movie theater, to take in a viewing of John Carter in 3D. I wasn’t quite sure what the movie was about prior to today. I didn’t view any of the trailers or read any reviews prior to attending. The only thing I could tell you about this movie, was that it sponsored some Super Bowl events here in Indianapolis this year. I was actually really surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie. (Slight spoiler alert ahead)

This movie started with the character named John Carter, who was a civil war veteran. He strangely wakes up on the planet mars, with the ability to jump long and far. At this point in the movie, I would say that this movie is a cross between Star Wars and Avatar. John Carter finds himself in the middle of mars,which is approaching a collapse. This movie takes a lot of twists and turns, and the ending is definitely not what I was expecting.

At just over 2 hours and 19 minutes, this is a movie that would be appropriate for most ages. Smaller children may not enjoy it, due to the length of the film, I found myself squirming in my seat at one point.
